Michael Goldberg grew up in Metro Detroit. He began cooking after moving to Steamboat Springs Colorado in 2013 at Mambo Italiano. After almost 2 years he had moved up the line to lead line cook. Detroit drew him back as well as an opportunity to work at Selden Standard where he worked for the first year. After a year at Selden Standard he was offered the opportunity to go back to Colorado as the Chef de Cuisine at the restaurant he started at. While Chef de Cuisine at Mambo Italiano Michael created a fresh pasta program, began sourcing all their meats locally along with an in house whole animal butchery program. After 2 years Detroit drew him back and he decided to move home for good to once again be part of the Detroit dining scene.

Katie Nelson also grew up in Metro Detroit. After graduating from the culinary program at the Art Institute of Michigan she took a job at The Slurping Turtle in Ann Arbor where she worked her way up to Sous Chef. She left Slurping Turtle to help open Soul Cafe in West Bloomfield with a colleague from school. After her time at Soul cafe she headed to Selden Standard in Detroit where she became a Sous Chef and ran the lunch and brunch program.
